Published by runtime 360 July 3rd, 2006 in BlogWow over a month without any update, this is a first even for me! What’s worse is I can’t even blame it on my love of the 360, just look at my gamerscore, hardly any progression (ok it could be I’m just crap at games!).
Despite that, believe it or not I haven’t forgotten about Transcode 360; things are progressing: My Movies author Brian Binnerup is currently evaluating the interface I’ve provided him and I’m pretty hopeful any change requests that come my way can be quickly turned round.
Other than that ’tis been a crappy month: my DSL service is on the blink (intermittent fault - connection drops every 3-10 minutes as the day warms up or cools down); the deathtrap car broke down (intermittent fault - engine cuts out at low speeds and unpredictably at 60 mph - nice!); and England get knocked out of the World Cup.
Needless to say I’m looking forward to a change in fortune…

Hi RUNTiME, any updates on when you will be open sourcing Transcode 360?, sourceforge.net project?
Hi Gamester, ltns - actually the source code was open sourced on Novell’s site some time ago but I’ve recieved very little interest outside of that. I have seen a couple of people are interested in calling T360 from ‘Hosted Html’ which is perfectly possible to do right now (and is what the whole My Movies thing is about) if you’re familiar with .NET remoting (I can provide examples if folks are interested). Its also possible to fix bugs in the transcoding process by editing the transcoder plug-in source, so a thorough understanding of the whole solution is not required.
I have been visiting this site for awhile now keeping up to date on 360 news, but I have just recently purchased a 360 a few days ago. Of course, I was excited to get Transcode working, and it works just as advertised. I was a bit worried for a minute that giving up a modded xbox with XBMC would leave me with just a regular gaming console. . .
The 360 dashboard features and media center are pretty much exactly what I already had with XBMC. MS actually payed attention to homebrew that was on the original xbox? Good job with the app thus far runtime
Car randomly cutting out? Sounds exciting. Driving a functioning car is just so predictable.
I didn’t mention it but the following day my TV signal booster got knocked out by lightning…! I thought bad luck was supposed to come in 3’s? I got the car sorted (TDCi engine), dodgy camshaft sensor, quite inexpensive repair fortunately! BT swapped my line for another that comes into the house, effectively replacing the copper between my house and the exchange, still getting DSL signal loss / disconnections - but not so bad, so I’ve been asked to monitor things for the next few days…
Hey Runtime, I’ve been having some problems playing DivX 3 content. Has there been any other reports of other people having this problem? Also, I’m unable to transcode 720p Xvid video…is says “Unable to qeue file for transcoding.”
