New blood and Transcode 360 for Vista released
Published by runtime 360 December 12th, 2006 in TranscodingIf you were a little concerned over the future of Transcode 360; allow me to allay those fears. Its been only a fortnight since I shared a limited release of the source code with James Botham, and to be perfectly honest I’m really impressed with how quickly he has gotten to grips with it.
James has completed porting the project to .NET 2.0, delt with the changes introduced by Vista Media Center, deciphered my arcane installer script and written some Windows Firewall helper apps to simplify installation. His enthusiasm has even rubbed off on me, such that I’m keen to dabble with MCML and perhaps work on a newer, flashier, user interface for the Vista crowd.
If you’re running Vista RTM you may be interested to know that James has released an early beta build, be sure to check out the release notes and forum posts as there are a couple of known issues that can easily be worked around.

I just installed and rebooted on Vista I get the following Error “Transcode360tray.exe has stopped working” A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Any one else get this error?

I’m running Vista RC2 (Build 5744) and also receive the “Transcodee360tray.eve has stopped working”. This is the first version of Vista I’ve tried Transcode360 on. Is anyone having success with Transcode360 and RC2?
Work’s great so far on Vista RTM.
Tried it on Vista RTM too and it’s almost perfect! Works great with Xvid movies (checked with AVIcodec) but I only get audio (admittedly AC3, which is nice!) with DivX movies (again, checked the codec using AVIcodec).
Great stuff though - can’t believe Xploder have brought out an identical product and are charging 20 quid for it!

when u receive the error about writhing path erros when windows vista reboots on the first time do the following!
1:open explorer
2:naviage to the transcode directory
3:edit the security by rightclicking the Transcode360 dir.
4:Add the foliwing user: Everyone
And give the permission full controll, click apply and run transcdode again

I got a problem using the Vista Version on my Windows Vista Ultimate RTM.
It’s starting correctly and it works good in the Windows Media Center as well.
But streaming XviD-Movies to my 360 doesnt work. I get the following error:

File which are necessary for video-playback aren’t installed or they dont work properly. Please restart Media Center and/or the Computer.
All Firewalls are deactivated and the network works perfectly. Streaming a video with VLC360 works.
And I looked into the buffer-folder of Transcode. When I try to stream a Video it creates a buffer file of the movie.
I dont know what else I could do

I’ve used this in the past and now have Vista installed. I am trying to unzip the file and it gives me this message
Error 0×80004005: Unspecified error.
This is given to me when the file is trying to unzip.
Anyone have any ideas?

Im running this program in Windows Vista 32Bit and it seems to throw up an error message after you restart the computer. It seems the solution to the problem is to go into “Progarm Files” and right click on the file named “Transcode360tray.exe” and select “Run as Administrator”. After this has been done it seems to run fine and I can now watch all my downloaded movies via the PC-Xbox using Media Centre on my TV, its great. I really appreciate what you have done to resolve an issue with the xbox360 which most people hate. Its good to see there are people out there that wont just sit back and let Microsoft take away our freedom of choice.

Hola, te agradezco tu trabajo, xo tengo nun pekeño problema, me baje la version xa xp mc y la instale, sin darme cuenta q habia una xa vista, y ahora no puedo desinstalarla del vista, xq me dice q esta ejecutado el programa, e mirado en procesos y no esta, como puedo desinstalarlo ? gracias
I have installed it 3 days agao, and its been running perfect on my windows vista ultimate and xbox 360, everything is synced perfectly, just i can fast forward or reverse.
