Welcome to my personal blog!

First off, I’ve gone with the online pseudonym “runtime” for well over a decade now, ever since my first time playing Duke Nukem 3D on a LAN.

Anyways, my name is Albert Griscti-Soler, I am of German-Italian descent and live in Milton Keynes, England. I was originally born in Gibraltar, a British colony established on a strip of land at the southern-most part of Spain; its only about two and half square miles and yet over 30,000 people live there.

Gibraltar is a great place to live, but not necessarily so if you’re a teenager with ambitions to explore the rest of the world. When the opportunity came I left to study at De Montfort University in England, and ever since my graduation in 1998, I’ve come to think of England as home.

I’m a software engineer by trade, and have been cutting code for as long as I can remember. I was about eight when my parents bought me my first computer, it was a BBC Micro Model B with 32K memory.

I vividly remember the first day I got my computer (it was Christmas Day). My dad who knew nothing of computers walked me through an example program from the manual. It didn’t do much more than draw a flashing triangle on the screen. But this was back in a time when authors weren’t afraid to dip into 6502 assembler by chapter 3, and with only two games to my name, it wasn’t long before I was learning the ins and outs of the Beeb in the hopes of writing my own.

Fast forward eighteen years give or take and in late 2002, my enthusiasm for digital media and technology spurred me to start up the widely acclaimed open source project ‘Xbox Media Center‘, as co-founder and lead engineer.

I’m starting to get into web design latley, and currently, I’m working on learning more about CSS. My other interests include movies, photography and gaming. Although I’m not so much interested in playing games as I am reading about them and the industry in general.

About this Site

This site is mainly for me to have a play with and try things out. Its currently hosted at asmallorange.com, I didn’t go totally crazy with a high end package so if it is running a bit slow, I appologise, its probably some ropey PHP I wrote.
